John Burgess began his business in the Strand in 1760 and was soon purveying his exotic food products to the nobility. The company was awarded the Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria in 1853 and retains it to this day, proving that the Burgess emphasis on quality and exclusivity is as strong now as it was over 230 years ago.
