Lyle's Golden Syrup is perfect or cooking and baking. The Syrup is great on pancakes and waffles, too.
Use it as a base for cooking tasty treats like this wonderful European Butterscotch Sauce.
50 g unsalted butter
75 g brown sugar
50 g powdered sugar
150 g Lyle's Golden Syrup
10 cl thick crème fraîche (or heavy whipping cream)
1 tsp vanilla extract
Heat the butter, sugar and Lyle's Golden Syrup in a thick heavy sauce pan gently until all is melted and the sugar is dissolved. Continue to heat gently for 5 more minutes. Remove the saucepan and add the rème fraîche and the vanilla extract. Stir for a few more minutes until the mixture thickens.
Serve hot or cold over vanilla ice cream, cake, or a slice of New York cheese cake. It will keep in the fridge for several weeks.
