Tante & Lyle's Black Treacle
Rich wonderful Tate & Lyle's Black Treacle. What is Black Treacle, you may well ask? Good question. Tate & Lyle's Black Treacle is the by-product of sugar refining; it's called molasses here in the USA, and is a rich dark brown with a full-bodied, slightly minerall-y taste. You don't want to confuse it with
Lyle's Golden Syrup.
Lyle's Golden Syrup is just that - a sugar syrup, sweet and golden.
Use Tate & Lyle's Black Treacle where you would molasses -- in cookies and cakes, in marinades, glazes, and when grilling fish. The British use it for Christmas pudding, parkin, treacle toffee, and gingerbread cookies. Super yummy!
Product of England.
