Loved by Aussies since the early 1920s, Vegamite is a thick dark spread used on toast or bread, or as a flavoring in soups and casseroles. The Australians invented Vegemite as the importation of Marmite from England stopped during World War I.

It is said that a Vegemite sandwich to an Australian kid is the equivalent of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to an American kid. Hungry for a Vegemite sandwich? Take two slices of bread and slab on some butter and a small dollop of Vegemite. Start small if you're a first timer. The Vegemite will mix right in with the butter and spread easily. Enjoy.
